If this is a Development Course for future semesters, once you are ready for the course to be changed for the correct semester, send an email to bwood@ufl.edu asking that the course be changed and include the correct section numbers for the term the course will be used in. The title of the course will be changed to the normal course naming convention which is ABC1234: 1821, Summer 2013 and the section numbers will be verified and then added to the course. You will receive an email once the change has been made.

It is highly recommended that you request your course well in advance of the beginning of the semester. Those who wait until the last minute will face much longer wait times until their course is created. It is possible your course will not be created before the beginning of the semester.

The new information and communication technologies speed up the rate of change and increase the need of education that is subject to a higher information flow. The achievements of information technology, along with changes within society, determine the creation of new paradigms for business education and training. Under these circumstances, e-learning has become one of the main educational forms of human resources in business. This research aims to measure the impact of some initiatives within human resources on an organization, market leader within pharmaceutical field, namely measuring the efficiency of business education programs concerning human resources through e-learning. Under these circumstances, the carried-out research aims to put into practice the theoretical frame of ROI (Return on Investment) methodology of evaluating the business education programs concerning human resources in five stages, suggested by J. J. Phillips. The research validates theoretical data of the surveyed model and it is based on the analysis of the data gathering process within the ROI Methodology. This work shows only aspects related to the measuring of the participants’ reaction towards the e-learning business education program, respectively.

To create a GatorLink account at the University of Florida you must have a qualifying Affiliation. In addition to the qualifying Affiliation, you will need a personal email address and at least one valid phone number in the UF Registry. When all the 3 requirements are met, you will be sent an ‘Invitation’ email to create your GatorLink account. The email will navigate to the link below, where you will need your UFID and phone ready.

If you uncheck the box for “Let Students See Their Quiz Responses” at the end of the semester or review period, then they will not be able to see the quiz questions or their answers.  They will only be able to see their quiz grade.  This is best practice if you prefer not to have the potential of tests being shared between semesters. Alternatively, you can choose to override the term availability settings and put the beginning date as the beginning of the semester and the end date the Friday after grades are due.  Be sure to check the “Users can only participate between these dates” box to override the term dates.

Abstract: The capability of organizations to accumulate and apply new knowledge is a key factor in order to achieve the new competitive standards. A continuous changing diversity, to which the need of adaptation to the changes of external environment is added, speeds up the rate of development and business education. The new information and communication technologies speed up the rate of change and increase the need of education that is subject to a higher information flow. The achievements of information technology, along with changes within society, determine the creation of new paradigms for business education and training. Under these circumstances, e-learning has become one of the main educational forms of human resources in business. This research aims to measure the impact of some initiatives within human resources on an organization, market leader within pharmaceutical field, namely measuring the efficiency of business education programs concerning human resources through e-learning. Under these circumstances, the carried-out research aims to put into practice the theoretical frame of ROI (Return on Investment) methodology of evaluating the business education programs concerning human resources in five stages, suggested by J. J. Phillips. The research validates theoretical data of the surveyed model and it is based on the analysis of the data gathering process within the ROI Methodology. This work shows only aspects related to the measuring of the participants` reaction towards the e-learning business education program, respectively.

Electronic devices such as cellphones and computers facilitate rapid access to a stream of sources, each of which may receive cursory attention. Michel Rich, an associate professor at Harvard Medical School and executive director of the center on Media and Child Health in Boston, said of the digital generation, “Their brains are rewarded not for staying on task, but for jumping to the next thing. The worry is we’re raising a generation of kids in front of screens whose brains are going to be wired differently.”[169] Students have always faced distractions; computers and cellphones are a particular challenge because the stream of data can interfere with focusing and learning. Although these technologies affect adults too, young people may be more influenced by it as their developing brains can easily become habituated to switching tasks and become unaccustomed to sustaining attention.[169] Too much information, coming too rapidly, can overwhelm thinking.[170]

With this in mind, the article focuses on the workflow I use when I create my eLearning courses.   My eLearning courses begin life on paper (where I’ve sketched some ideas).   When it comes to eLearning development, I use PowerPoint as my “heavy hitter.”

A common problem at the beginning of a term is that instructors/TAs/Facilitators notify us that they cannot see the students in their course.  This is often because whoever enrolled them chose “limit to section” during the enrollment process. They are appropriately enrolled in the INIT section, but then limited to that section.  Typically only teacher-type roles are in the INIT section so the students in the registrar sections are off-limits to the person who is limited to the INIT section.

A virtual classroom provides the opportunity for students to receive direct instruction from a qualified teacher in an interactive environment. Learners can have direct and immediate access to their instructor for instant feedback and direction. The virtual classroom provides a structured schedule of classes, which can be helpful for students who may find the freedom of asynchronous learning to be overwhelming. In addition, the virtual classroom provides a social learning environment that replicates the traditional “brick and mortar” classroom. Most virtual classroom applications provide a recording feature. Each class is recorded and stored on a server, which allows for instant playback of any class over the course of the school year. This can be extremely useful for students to retrieve missed material or review concepts for an upcoming exam. Parents and auditors have the conceptual ability to monitor any classroom to ensure that they are satisfied with the education the learner is receiving.

A training management system or training resource management system is a software designed to optimize instructor-led training management. With the Internet and social media, using educational apps makes the students highly susceptible to distraction and sidetracking. Even though proper use has shown to increase student performances, being distracted would be detrimental. Another disadvantage is increased potential for cheating. Smartphones can be very easy to hide and use inconspicuously, especially if their use is normalized in the classroom. Some programs require students to attend some campus classes or orientations, but many are delivered completely online. Digitized communication and networking in education started in the mid-1980s. A common problem at the beginning of a term is that instructors/TAs/Facilitators notify us that they cannot see the students in their course.  This is often because whoever enrolled them chose “limit to section” during the enrollment process. They are appropriately enrolled in the INIT section, but then limited to that section.  Typically only teacher-type roles are in the INIT section so the students in the registrar sections are off-limits to the person who is limited to the INIT section.

Help, CBTs pose some learning challenges. Typically, the creation of effective CBTs requires enormous resources. The software for developing CBTs (such as Flash or Adobe Director) is often more complex than a subject matter expert or teacher is able to use. The lack of human interaction can limit both the type of content that can be presented and the type of assessment that can be performed, and may need supplementation with online discussion or other interactive elements.

The design of e-learning platforms in ways that enable universal access has received attention from several directions, including the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI). WAI provides universal formatting standards for websites so they can remain accessible to people with disabilities. Sometimes you may need to edit the date of an event or assignment in your course. This can be done easily in the Calendar by either clicking on the item and editing the date or by dragging and dropping the item to a new date. Be aware, though, that if you delete an event or assignment from your Calendar, it also completely deletes that associated content from your course. Be careful that you don’t accidentally delete important items (like quizzes or assignments).
