With recent developments in smartphone technology, the processing powers and storage capabilities of modern mobiles allow for advanced development and use of apps. Many app developers and education experts have been exploring smartphone and tablet apps as a medium for collaborative learning.

2015 was the first year that private nonprofit organizations enrolled more online students than for-profits, although public universities still enrolled the highest number of online students. In the fall of 2015, more than 6 million students enrolled in at least one online course.
Group webpages, blogs, wikis, and Twitter allow learners and educators to post thoughts, ideas, and comments on a website in an interactive learning environment. Social networking sites are virtual communities for people interested in a particular subject to communicate by voice, chat, instant message, video conference, or blogs. The National School Boards Association found that 96% of students with online access have used social networking technologies, and more than 50% talk online about schoolwork. Social networking encourages collaboration and engagement and can be a motivational tool for self-efficacy amongst students.

If your online course requires proctored testing, the PSC Testing Centers are ready lend a helping hand. Scheduling an appointment to take an exam at the Pensacola, Warrington, or South Santa Rosa Testing Center is easy. Students can schedule tests and pay associated fees online 24/7 (if applicable) with a computer or mobile device. Students living close to one of these locations will find this service to be a real time saver. Note that testing appointments at the Milton and Century Testing Centers must be made by phone. PSC Testing Centers appreciate the needs of online learners and seek to accommodate all students in the most efficient manner available. Not all courses start on the same date. Course start and end dates vary based on the semester Term. Classes should show in eLearning after 8am Central Time on the start date provided. The start date is dependent on when your instructor has set the course to begin in eLearning. To see what day your class begins, access your schedule in the My Classes app in MyUWF (see below).
The only reason to limit someone to a section is if you are purposely trying to make sure that person only sees certain students in the course and not others, for example, if you want a TA to only be able to grade specific students. In that case, you’d have to manually create a section, put the students and the TA in it and limit the TA to the section. Students would be in their registrar section AND in the section you created. You would also need to enroll the TA to the INIT section and limit to that section as well, or you won’t be able to communicate with that TA!
OpenCourseWare (OCW) gives free public access to information used in undergraduate and graduate programs. Participating institutions are MIT, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, University of Pennsylvania, and University of Michigan.
If all information is correct, then the system will automatically create the course. Remember, the course will be created with the Course Title exactly as it has been entered in the Course Title form field. The automatic course creation process is performed 10 minutes after the hour, 30 minutes after the hour, and 50 minutes after the hour.
According to Jenkins, “Rather than dealing with each technology in isolation, we would do better to take an ecological approach, thinking about the interrelationship among different communication technologies, the cultural communities that grow up around them, and the activities they support.” Jenkins also suggested that the traditional school curriculum guided teachers to train students to be autonomous problem solvers. However, today’s workers are increasingly asked to work in teams, drawing on different sets of expertise, and collaborating to solve problem. Learning styles and the methods of collecting information have evolved, and “students often feel locked out of the worlds described in their textbooks through the depersonalized and abstract prose used to describe them”. These twenty-first century skills can be attained through the incorporation and engagement with technology. Changes in instruction and use of technology can also promote a higher level of learning among students with different types of intelligence.

All of us have experienced dry, boring, painful eLearning. My answer, or at least part of it, is that eLearning designers and developers have very few good examples to reference. can all be mimicked in eLearning very directly and built as part of a story or an environment.
