This weekend from 11pm March 2nd until 3pm March 3rd, Blackboard will replace hardware at on one of its data centers. eLearning users may experience service interruptions to publisher tools (Partner Cloud) during this time. These publisher tools include Cengage Learning, Macmillan Higher Education, McGraw-Hill, Pearson, and Wiley. Please contact elearning@utdallas.edu if you have any questions. PLEASE NOTE: This maintenance DOES NOT impact core eLearning functionality (i.e. tests, assignments, discussion boards, etc.).

On Saturday March 17, 2018 from 10 AM to 4 PM CDT, the Turnitin Application in eLearning (Blackboard Learn) will be unavailable to UNI users while maintenance is performed.  This maintenance will include several hardware updates and performance improvements.

It is highly recommended that you request your course well in advance of the beginning of the semester. Those who wait until the last minute will face much longer wait times until their course is created. It is possible your course will not be created before the beginning of the semester.

We have heard from users who experienced significant issues when using outdated versions of Internet Explorer. IE 9 and 10 are not supported by Blackboard (our eLearning vendor). The only reason to limit someone to a section is if you are purposely trying to make sure that person only sees certain students in the course and not others, for example, if you want a TA to only be able to grade specific students.  In that case, you’d have to manually create a section, put the students and the TA in it and limit the TA to the section.  Students would be in their registrar section AND in the section you created.  You would also need to enroll the TA to the INIT section and limit to that section as well, or you won’t be able to communicate with that TA!

Are you sending an attachment in response to a student email in e-Learning from your email client (such as outlook)? This attachment will be stripped from the email once it enters e-Learning as a security measure in place by Instructure Canvas. To make sure that your students are receiving attachments that you send them, send the email with the attachment through the e-Learning Inbox tool.
